Insterers (mailers)
Inserters (mailers) serve to deal with a great number of letters. With a mailer one can print letters to which personalised plastic cards are attached. With some mailers up to 6 cards can be attached.
Banks, chain filling stations and other institutions issuing client plastic cards (e.g. bank cards, regular’s cards) need an efficient system to deliver correspondence and letter to clients. Usually cards are sent enclosed to a letter or as a postal shipment. This calls for a great number of personal shipments to include, apart from a card, also an appropriate information matter. To prepare such shipments by hand is time-consuming and involves a risk of being made mistakenly. Correspondence mistakes affect adversely good image of a company. These inconveniences can be solved with devices we call inserters or mailers. Such devices automatically and reliably prepare shipments delivering plastic cards. The speed of the process of preparing and dispatching plastic cards to clients is of great significance as then the issuer of plastic cards can render his services earlier.
As a standard a mailer works autonomously – plastic cards, which were prepared and personalised earlier, are loaded into the inserter feeder. Inserters are capable of cooperation with card printing and customising devices – i.e. embossers. An inserter-embosser set is controlled from a level on one system and these devices constitute one processing train. An embosser prints, encodes a plastic card and transfers it to an inserter.
A cover letter printing module integrated with an inserter prepares A4 format letters. Next a checking system with a magnetic strip entry/record reader, a bar code reader or OCR font reader verifies the addressee of a letter with the data saved or printed on a card. Upon a positive verification the system delivers a cover letter and a card to the inserter module, which then affixes a card to a cover letter, folds the sheet with the attached to it plastic card, puts it into an envelope and transfers the envelope to a receiver (up to 6 cards). A document massaging system (inserting system) can in addition include a module to attach additional add leaflets (identical for all addresses) of the A4 format to a correspondence. The “end product” of an inserter is a ready for dispatch letter put into an envelope along with a printed compilation (in order to send it by post or a courier). | ||
